Two more days to go and I already had to say goodbye to one more of my favorite people: Cora from Ireland of Subar Juicebar fame left this morning to Varkala, right after satsang. Speaking of satsang, today I sat and I sang the Universal Prayer in very broken Vietnamese with Bau and the Japanese group.

Organized by Udayan, our free day took us to the Backwaters and Varkala Beach. Highlights include some very good fried fish for dinner on the beach and Monica’s observation that my face glowed and eyes shone the day I was initiated.

Bright and early, I put together my offering of fruit (the two apples I got yesterday), flowers (some orange ones I picked near my dorm and some strange looking ones I got from a tree outside the Reception) and money (making sure it’s not a round figure), and made my way to the temple.

It’s the 24th, the Christmas of my stay at the Ashram. With only 4 more days to go, it feels like the beginning of the end, but also feels like any other day — brimming with possibility and potential. I’m excited to see what it brings.

I got my first mosquito bite of the day on my left ankle during satsang. I’m sure there’ll be many more to come over the next 24 hours and I’m excited to see in what constellation they arrange themselves on my body today.
