What, me worry?

Last summer in Istanbul, this little guy was probably asking that too.

Alfred E. Neuman is the jug-eared mascot on the cover of Mad, my favorite magazine growing up (and people accuse me of being an intellectual, so hah!). Every issue he fills the page, always dressed in something topical, relevant, timely. Yet one thing never changes: his wide, toothless, silly grin — so silly I find myself wishing I could just smack it right off his face.

But now as we welcome New Year 2011, I find myself with the same silly grin and all I can ask is Alfred’s signature question: “What, me worry?”
